Defect Seeding
For accurate and reliable procedure qualification, ATS offers natural defect seeding for material testing. Typical types of seeded defects include lack of fusion, porosity, or cracking with a wide range of sizes and differing locations in the materials. EDM notching can also be used for finer control of defects.
API RP2Z Testing
API RP2Z is focused on fracture toughness (CTOD) and resistance to cracking of the heat-affected zone (HAZ). This type of testing is used to qualify plate or pipe materials for service in offshore environments by assuring that the selected material is suitable for welding.
